Sedation Dentistry
Patients come from all over to be treated in this comfortable, safe and effective system of sedation dentistry. |
Are you afraid of going to the dentist? Have you had past dental experiences that have prevented you from getting much needed dental work? Dr. Titensor tries to provide the most comfortable atmosphere for his patients. He uses some of the most relaxing sedation and anesthesia techniques offered in dentistry today. In addition to nitrous oxide and local anesthesia, he can bring in an anesthesiologist for IV sedation or provide oral sedation for anxious patients.
For some people, when they hear the word “dentist,” they may break out in a cold sweat and their anxiety level may increase due to a childhood fear or a bad experience at the dentist’s office. Even simple visits like routine cleanings and checkups are missed due to various phobias.
The answer for many patients is oral sedation dentistry. A candidate for sedation dentistry can be someone who has experienced one or more of the following:
- fear of dental work
- a prior traumatic dental experience
- difficulty getting numb
- a bad gag reflex
- very sensitive teeth
- limited time to complete their dental care
- complex dental problems
- fear of needles and shots
- feelings of embarrassment about their teeth
- dislike of smells or tastes associated with dental care
- a disability that precludes them from receiving traditional dental services
How does oral sedation dentistry work?
A patient is given a small pill to take an hour prior to their dental appointment and a companion drives them to their dental appointment. By the time they arrive at Dr. Titensor’s Flower Mound, Texas dental office, the patient is very drowsy and is escorted to the back. The patient is then covered with a thick, warm blanket and placed on a monitor to watch their vital signs. After the patient is comfortable, the dental staff will take care of their dental needs. When the treatment is completed, the patient’s companion drives them home to finish their relaxing sleep.
Patients in the Flower Mound, Coppell, Grapevine and Lewisville Texas area are fortunate to have dentist with sedation training close by to provide the care they need while they are totally relaxed and comfortable. Many patients come from around the country for sedation dentistry with Dr. Titensor. Contact us today to learn more about sedation dentistry and found out if sedation dentistry is right for you.
