Teeth Whitening is an excellent and affordable way to give you a beautiful smile. It is one of the most requested services in my office. Several factors can contribute to whether a patient has any discomfort during or after teeth whitening. If teeth are in need of restorations (from active decay), have root surface exposure, or have thin enamel, they can be sensitive. Most patients who have discomfort find that it subsides after a day or two or with help of over-the-counter medication (i.e. Tylenol or Advil). I have a gummy smile. What can be done to show more tooth and less gum tissue?

Oftentimes, people appear to have short teeth, when in reality, it’s the gum tissue that’s at the wrong height. By gently sculpting the gum tissue to more ideal proportions, I can give you teeth that appear longer and more attractive. This procedure takes a minimal amount of time, involves no bleeding or stitches, and in most cases does not require altering your teeth in any way.

I get headaches. Is there anything you can do to help me?

Most headaches are muscle tension headaches that come from abnormal function of the muscles that control posture of the head and neck. The muscles that control jaw posture are some of the muscles that control head posture and thus can be a source of headache if jaw posture is incorrect. Commonly called TMJ syndrome, headache is only one symptom; others include clicking of the jaw joint, stuffiness of the ears, neck or shoulder aches, and numbness or tingling of the fingers.
