Flower Mound Dentist: Calming Root Canal Fears

California Dentist Calms Root Canal Fears In Flower Mound, Coppell, or Lewisville, a dentist’s office is sometimes seen as a painful and scary place. Titensor Family, Implant, Cosmetic & Sedation Dentistry tries to discourage that image with a very comfortable and friendly staff and a qualified dentist. However, endodontic therapy, a dental procedure commonly known as a root canal, still carries a strong association with pain that sometimes keeps people from regularly visiting the dentist and tending optimally to their oral health.

When a tooth becomes badly infected or decayed, a qualified dentist can clean the inside of the tooth by removing the bacteria, soft tissue (called pulp), decayed nerve tissue, and any debris that may be causing the tooth infection from the inside of the tooth. Your qualified dentist will then seal the tooth to prevent further decay and finish by applying a dental crown or filling. This is the process and purpose of a root canal. The process can be completed, typically, in just a few visits to your Flower Mound dental practice. In many cases, a root canal procedure is a better option than removing the infected tooth since it allows you to keep your natural tooth.

Teeth that are more prone to requiring a root canal procedure in the state of Texas are cracked or chipped, have received repeated dental procedures, have been damaged by trauma to the face, or are suffering from deep tooth decay. Wearing a mouth guard can help prevent damage sustained to teeth and practicing good oral hygiene habits, such as daily flossing and brushing, coupled with regular dental visits, can reduce the possibility of needing a dental root canal.

Though a root canal can be intimidating or scary, educating yourself and talking to your local dentist in the Coppell, Lewisville, or Flower Mound area can relieve much of your anxiety. Root canals are often not painful, and for many people the pain of the infection experienced beforehand is worse than any pain that might be experienced during the procedure, and the relief is well worth the trouble.

If you are in the  area you can give Titensor Family, Implant, Cosmetic & Sedation Dentistry a call to see what we can do for your oral health.

When is the last time you had a dental checkup? Most people in the Flower Mound area between the ages of 20 and 80 need a dental checkup every six months. If you live in Flower Mound and are at higher risk for gum disease or oral diseases, you should have your teeth checked every four months, or at least three times a year.

Come into our office, located at 1901 Long Prairie Rd., Flower Mound, TX, or give us a call to make a dental appointment. You can visit our website at http://www.SmilesBySteve.com for more information.

Most people in our Flower Mound community are in a medium to low risk category. However if you use tobacco or alcohol, eat a lot of sugar in your diet (including lots of soda), or have poor oral hygiene habits, you are likely in a higher risk category and should have your teeth checked right away.

I am Dr. Steven Titensor of Titensor Family, Implant, Cosmetic & Sedation Dentistry. Our office is located at 1901 Long Prairie Rd., Suite 320, Flower Mound, TX 75022. One of the best things about being a Flower Mound area dentist is interacting with our patients. During initial dental consultations, we listen carefully to our patient’s short and long term dental goals.

We enjoy discussing options and developing effective treatment plans tailored specifically to each person. Some of our clients desire a total smile makeover. We explain in detail the treatments available including teeth whitening, dental veneers, orthodontia, crown restoration, and dental implants.

If a client is nervous about undergoing treatment, we discuss conscious sedation. Sleep dentistry, sometimes called sedation dentistry, is a great option for anxious patients. Dental visits do not have to be painful!

After the treatment has been completed, it is very gratifying for us to see our patient’s reaction to their new smile.

We never get tired of creating dramatic smile transformations for the best clients in Texas!

Hate Your Dentures?

Dallas Dentistry Implant Perhaps you have heard or seen the Dallas dental industry’s advertising about dental implants. Most Flower Mound dentists claim that dental implant dentures can change your life. Does this sound like hype? Exaggeration?

Let’s look at the facts about dental implant anchored dentures in Dallas:

Chewing: An oral implant denture can restore up to 95 percent of normal chewing function. How important is chewing? Can you chew easily with your current full or partial denture? Can you bite apples? When was the last time you ate a raw carrot?

Fit: Implant anchored dentures stay in place. An implant denture doesn’t slide around in your mouth and cause sores. Implant denture wearers who exercise regularly especially appreciate this benefit.

Appearance: How does your smile look? Can you smile confidently? How many  denture wearers love their smile? Implant anchored dentures look like natural teeth. They don’t move when you smile, eat, talk, bike, swim, dance, golf, ski; you get the idea.

Bone health: When teeth are extracted, bone recession can occur over time (in fact, this happens in almost every case). Because a titanium implant is an artificial ‘tooth root’ inserted into your jaw bone, your bone has a better chance of staying healthy. If there are no other adverse conditions present, your jaw bone should remain strong and dense, just as if the original tooth root were there.

If you hate your dentures and live in Lewisville or Grapevine, why don’t you come in for a consultation about dental implants and mini-implants? We can discuss all the particulars including procedure specifics, healing time and dental implant cost. Then you can decide for yourself if Implant dentures will, as promised, change your life.
